February is the perfect month to celebrate Food For Greater Elgin’s annual “Food is Love” event in partnership with the Elgin Symphony Orchestra.
We are honored and delighted to be one of the ESO’s ongoing community partners, and to be the recipient of special donations collected over this weekend each year. During both the February 9 and 10 concerts (featuring beloved composers from the Romantic period, of course), Music Director, Andrew Grams took time during intermission to speak about FFGE’s important work.
Before, during and after the performances our Executive Director, Shelia Jackson, Board Chair, Mike Warren, and other volunteers worked an information table to answer questions and raise awareness of food insecurity in the Elgin area. Together, and thanks to the support of the ESO, they collected over $2,600 to fight food insecurity among our neighbors.
Thanks to the ESO for their dedicated support of our mission, and thanks to those of you who attended these beautiful concerts and gave to support Food For Greater Elgin.
