Read the release from board chair, Mike Warren:
As Chairman of the Board, I am pleased to announce that Shelia Jackson has joined Food for Greater Elgin as our new Executive Director.
Jackson is a seasoned leader who brings tremendous energy, strategic thinking, innovation and creativity to her work. She is recognized by her peers for her passion for business and exceptional leadership skills.
Since 2011, Jackson has served within the hospice care industry. She was formerly Director of Supportive Care and most recently led volunteer services throughout the Chicagoland area. She also started “Journey On,” a grief-support organization, to both reflect on her own grief, and to provide comfort to others experiencing loss.
In addition to her service experience, Jackson has 25 years of business experience and a Master of Business Administration degree from Aurora University.
Over the last 7 years, Food for Greater Elgin has grown into a regional, client-choice food pantry that provides security and stability to 1,200 families per month. With the addition of Jackson as our new Executive Director, we look forward to her leading us to the next level.
In addition, Rebecca Mace has chosen to leave her position as Director of Development at Food for Greater Elgin as of January 2018. We thank Mace for her dedication and wish her luck in her new job.
Jackson has already begun the process of identifying a new Business Development Director. Interested parties should email info@foodforgreaterelgin.org with a resume and letter of interest.
On behalf of the Board of Directors, we welcome Shelia Jackson as the new Executive Director of Food for Greater Elgin, and we thank all of our donors, volunteers, and friends for your continued support as we continue providing security and access to community resource in order to stabilize lives.
Regards.
Mike Warren
