Elgin, IL – Food For Greater Elgin’s Executive Director, Shelia Jackson, has tendered her resignation after two years with the organization. She is leaving for personal reasons and to pursue a new path and opportunities. Her last day will be Friday, February 7.
FFGE’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Michael Montgomery will be assuming the role of Interim Executive Director. Montgomery has a strong background in non-profits and as an interim minister, most recently at First Congregational Church of Elgin. He will help guide FFGE while the Board searches for a permanent replacement for the Executive Director role; his first day in office will be Monday, January 20.
The board is grateful for Jackson’s leadership and wishes her the very best in her future endeavors. FFGE has made tremendous progress under her direction: increased access to the pantry, expanded mobile distributions to the elderly and homeless, weekly distribution to clients, all in an effort to stabilize the lives of those in need. In addition, Jackson has built a tremendous team of staff members that will be invaluable during this transition.
FFGE’s board is also grateful to all donors and volunteers – thank you for your tremendous support of the organization. Together, we are changing the way food insecurity is being addressed in our community. We would not be where we are today without your partnership.
In the coming months, FFGE will continue to provide stability to thousands of men, women, and children faced with hunger. Your continued support and dedication will be critical as we take our next steps forward.
Food For Greater Elgin is a guest-choice food pantry servicing more than 1,600 households monthly. Shoppers can select meat, fresh produce, dairy, deli, and shelf-stable items during their visits. FFGE has been an invaluable resource for many in the Elgin, South Elgin, East Dundee and West Dundee areas.
