Food For Greater Elgin was honored with a letter from Julie Yurko, President and CEO of the Northern Illinois Food Bank, recognizing our organization for ten years of service:
“The stalwart work of your Board of Directors, management and dedicated volunteers has propelled FFGE to become the valued community partner and Food Pantry it is today; to the City of Elgin, Kane County and Northern Illinois Food Bank.
The teams at the Food Bank who interact with Michael Montgomery, Rey Fuentes, Sergio Cervantes, Luis Pureco and Lupe Salazar speak highly of the cooperative nature and positive interactions they consistently experience with your staff. The agency team that interacts with your volunteers considers them exemplary. Like your staff, they are dedicated, well trained and committed to the community that visits your food pantry!
Above all of this, FFGE has risen to the challenge of the current pandemic. Under the direction of Michael Montgomery, Interim Director, it has innovated in targeted ways to meet the needs of communities throughout Elgin. It has added programs to serve clients and its neighboring Soup Kettles of the Elgin Community Ministries. It has initiated major growth securing a new landlord and facilitating improvements to its pantry infrastructure, and even daring to dream of new site initiatives! It takes great capacity to excel like this during the current economic environment and social challenges.
What an impressive ten years! It’s been a privilege, and we look forward to partnering with you in the next ten years and even more!”
Thank you for your support and encouraging words. We, too, look forward to the next ten years!
