Giving Tuesday 2018

As you ponder where to donate this Giving Tuesday, Food For Greater Elgin invites you to consider the following facts:

1. For every $1 dollar donated to Food For Great Elgin, we can purchase up to $8 worth of food.
2. Shoppers can visit our pantry two times per month, and they always choose what goes in their cart.
3. A portion of your donation supports “Fresh to You” Senior Mobile Markets.
4. Half of the people we serve are children.
5. With your help, we provided over 74,000 food visits last year.
6. Approximately 2,500 children in our service area rely on free/reduced meals during school.
7. 93% of all funds raised support programming.
8. Over $34,000 was raised last year on Giving Tuesday, which contributed to over 4 million pounds of food being distributed – that’s over 3 million meals!
9. In Kane County, 9.7% of the population is at risk of hunger.

We know that there are many worthy causes and important charities to choose from on Giving Tuesday, and Food For Greater Elgin would be honored and grateful to be on your short list of organizations to support.
