Food For Greater Elgin is excited to announce our new shopping system: Our guests can now make online appointments, no more waiting in the cold!

Equipped with a grant from the Hartmann Foundation, we have purchased a software system called Skiplino. Roughly 30 minutes before we open, people with a disability will be admitted to the building to shop in our warehouse. During this time, we will send messages to the first ten appointments to come into the building. They will get numbers as before. Every 15 minutes, an additional 10 appointments will be called, so our guests will never have to wait outside.

In addition, every 15 minutes we will call in at least 5 people who do not have appointments. Our goal is to have no lines outside in the
cold, but even without a reservation, no one will be turned away

What you should do:

  1. Download the Skiplino app onto your telephone via Apple App Store or Google Play. Enter your name and telephone number.
  2. Look under ‘Public Services’ and find ‘Food for Greater Elgin.’ Select ‘Food Distribution,’ then ‘car’ and click the day and that you want to come.
  3. Wait for us to page you, come forward for the usual registration process (temperature and mask check, reservation check and getting a yellow number card), enter the building for the ID check and wait until your number is called. Do not try to come in early! Your phone message
    status will change to ‘Called’ when you can come in.
  4. Inside registration is as before (photo ID required).
