Silver Linings to Chip 2022’s Stormy Weather

Blog Post
Event

The story of this year’s CHIP in for hunger was one of bests and worst.

  • The Best: We sold out of golf slots and had to close off registration a week before the event–the first time we’ve had to do that in the five years we have held this event!
  • The Worst: On the day of the event, just as we were about to begin golfing, the club officials stepped in to announce that heavy rain and wind was imminent, rendering the course unplayable. We could not golf!

BUT, because we had not started golfing, and it was not our fault that the course was unplayable, we weren’t billed for green fees. The result? We netted around $70,000, a record for this event.

There was a silver lining in those clouds!

Another silver lining is that the fees and sponsorships for the event are all tax deductible.

We are very grateful to this year’s planning committee, led by Michael Kroyer of Fastsigns of Elk Grove Village and Sarah Habberfield of Grand Victoria Casino, to our Presenting Sponsor, Bob Schrieber of Schrieber Financial Strategies Group, and to Robert E. Baird for their financial leadership in the support of Food for Greater Elgin.

We hope to get out on the links next year!
